Bamboo is a very fast-growing plant--can cut, regrow, and harvest in a very short period of time. It truly is a renewable resource within a time-span that can be renewed. I like the fact that it is unfinished, so you have your choice of which finish you want to apply.

Bamboo is harvested and manufactured in Vietnam, away from panda habitats, but still with a large embodied energy load because of overseas shipping. Rapidly renewable, self-regenerating, grass product rather than wood, in essence a wood alternative. Minimal fertilization or pesticides. Worker conditions a goal of company. Moso is a very durable type of bamboo.

Assumption is that this solid floor product, because it's not laminated, does not contain added formaldehyde. Floor product must be sanded, stained and finished on site, contributing to IAQ issues. To avoid sink effect of emissions, sequence installation so that installation and finish of floor takes place before installation of all porous materials such as fabrics. Seal off walls, ventilate room according to manufacturer's instructions. Dimensionally stable, extremely hard, lifetime warranty.

"Bad experience" by Anonymous (seattle, WA) on March 20, 2008
I had an experience similar to Mr. Avery's as well. Mediocre workmanship, disorganized company. Sir, just because you had a good experience, do not discount those of us who did not receive the same excellent service that you did.

As a result of our flooring experience, we most certainly will not be back and cannot in good conscience, recommend this company's services.

"Bamboo Hardwoods is GREAT" by John O'Keefe (Seattle, -) on January 08, 2007
I just saw this posting and felt compelled to respond.
BAMBOO HARDWOODS IS A GREAT COMPANY.
My experience with Bamboo Hardwoods was absolutely profesional, in fact dealing with Bamboo Hardwoods was by far the easiest and most pleasant part of my entire house remodeling experience. Each and every staff member I dealt with there was friendly, knowledgable and helpful. My installation went smoothly and I am 100% satisfied. It sounds as though Mr. Avery is the type of person that is probably never happy about anything, and it is a shame that he would use a public forum to try and hurt a good company that has such a pure and important mission. I sincerely hope that one of these years he does have a happy holiday.

"worst experience ever" by Avery (Seattle, WA) on December 26, 2006
Bamboohardwoods.com = worst experience ever. Stay far away from this disorganized and unprofessional company. Paid for estimate. Their estimate guy stated that everything was ok and that any minor patch work would be performed by thier company. Please note that the person doing the estiamte is not the same as the installers. This is thier major flaw. I then desiced to purchase the floor and paid for it with installation in full and waited for delivery and install. When it was time for installation installers said subfloor was not level enough. President of company (Doug) called supposed subfloor specialist to see what could be done who then wanted to replace the entire subfloor at my expense ($5,000). After other expert opnions(again at my expense) it was decided that bamboo hardwoods would do the floor leveling. Part of the sub floor was torn up and new cement was poured. Unfortunately, even this was done poorly as the consistency was too thin and wet. After one week it was still wet and humid and they could not install so they stated to get a dehumidifier. Of course being the professional company they were not they could not provide one but instead told me I had to go out and find one. Again, at my expense. Let me explain here that this is not my full time job. I have a full time job and flooring is not what I do. This is why I paid someone else to do it. OK, so after yet another week they come the day after christmas to check the humidity and yet again the floor is too humid. Now, we are stuck, our holiday season is ruined, we have no place to live as we have to be out of our apartment in 2 days and all the president of bamboo hardwoods can say is that they are not responsible for the sub floor. ok, then what the heck did I pay the estimate for?? So, in conclusion stay far away from this company!! If anyone ever mentions their name be very afraid. I am cringing with fear just thinking about them. Doug, you need to take responsibility for your companies actions. Just a word of advice. Use the same person for the estimate and final installation. You would avoid problems like this. Anyway, thanks for screwing us and happy holidays!
