Consultant regarding household products and building materials that are safer for health and the environment, since 1980. Debra has reviewed materials specifications and made specific recommendations for more than a dozen residences and several offices, including an apartment building in New York City. She has worked with homeowners, architects, contractors, and interior designers. Debra did her first green remodel on her own home in 1985.

Dennis Design Group approaches every project with sustainable principles. The first green project was completed in 2000.

In addition to learning so much from him in the arena of sustainability, we were able to hold meetings with people like Ed Begley Jr. Plus, the chef was cooking for us all of the time. His residence was published in 16 magazines throughout the world, including the cover of Smart Home Owner,” states Lori Dennis, the firm’s principal.

Dennis is a LEED Accredited Professional and is currently a member of the ASID green committee.

We have completed 4 green homes. The work is published in LA-Times, Dwell Magazine, LA-Weekly, Sunset Magazine, and was part of CA Boom3 Tour as well as the Santa Monica Green Home Tour 2006.  Key project: we finished in 2006 a house for the green building advisor of the city of Santa Monica, CA. It was published in Dwell, September 2006. Our first green home project was finished in 2003. We have not applied for any LEED accreditations or are part of any green organization as of today.

Drew Maran has specialized in green building since 1984, completing more than a dozen new green homes and remodels in that time.

Our green design approach incorporates natural and alternative materials as well as state of the art technology, like photovoltaic solar roofs or innovative mechanical systems. We are familiar with green roofs and gray water systems and have strong expertise in straw bale construction, with over fifty such projects realized. Our firm applies integrated design principles to achieve ecological benefits and as a means of creating healthy and beautiful environments.  As LEED Accredited Professionals we can help you to comply with this green building standard. We know how to balance function, buildability and green building approaches, and we work closely with our clients so they can reach their goals while reducing the environmental impact.

Duce Construction has been renovating homes and apartments in the greater New York City area since 1990. In 2001 we began building greener, incorporating our refined building skills with superior knowledge of green products and techniques. All of our projects now use recycled thermal and sound insulation and low VOC adhesives and paints, and often more.

Membership in the Apollo Alliance, NYSERDA, US Green Building Council, EBA, NYSEIA and NESEA, among others, keeps the Duce staff up to date. We also monitor the latest research, products, technologies and trends through Green Building seminars, trade conferences and specialty environmental building periodicals.

Our projects highlight environmental features such as habitat preservation and restoration and incorporate ecological design strategies such as passive solar energy efficiencies, water retention/recycling and use of non-toxic/recycled building materials. Our firm emphasizes the interdependent relationship between the natural and built environments. Our goal is to build shelters and communities for our growing society, while minimizing the impact of the construction on the land and local resources.

Duvivier Architects won the City of Santa Monica’s Sustainable Leadership Award in October 2004 for their “extraordinary efforts and commitments which have helped to make Santa Monica a more sustainable community.”

We have built what will be the highest-rated green point rated house in California, and since 2003 we have completed 27 green home projects. We are Certified Green Building Professionals and are affiliated with the U.S. Green Building Council and Build it Green.

We’ve completed 12 green home projects - the first in 1999.  Key project included planning/developing a 200 acre property with strawbale residence, solar energy and water supply with integrated roof and runoff harvesting, greywater reuse, “food-forest” orchards, pond.  Consortium includes one LEED accredited and five certified designers by the Permaculture Institute.
